It all started 15 years or so ago, when my father brought home a colourfull KIRIN glass. That was it. I decided to start collecting beer glasses of all shapes, styles and brands. Wherever I went I was always looking for a beer glass -I still do- and always asked friends and family to fetch me some from their trips and vacations. But soon that was not enough and I started searching on flea markets and most importantly buying from the internet. Ebay, markenglass, belgian shop, several breweries' official sites are some of the online marketplaces I used for acquiring beer glasses. Nevertheless some collecting rules must apply otherwise one can easily get lost on the way.
So the rules are simple :
- Beer and cider drinking vessels only from GLASS - no plastic neither clay
- Only with a logo on the glass
- Different types, shapes, sizes, logos of the same brand are must have. Even the slightest difference makes it collectable.
- Glasses of Athletic Clubs, events, products, places etc if they DO NOT have a beer brand logo on them are of NO interest.
By following these rules I managed to collect approx. 2500 beer glasses wich I keep in wooden display cabinets at the basement (see pics at the HOME section). The collection is located in Athens, Greece. I've tried my best to categorize and sort the glasses by brand and country of origin but that was not extremely easy and not entirely succesful. I hope you enjoy...
